Successful email marketing will require you to use the appropriate and suitable email marketing tool/program. There are several of them out there; the commonly known ones include Aweber, MailChimp, ConvertKit among others.
With all these programs in the market, it is difficult to choose which one is suitable for your business. Many people have various reasons and opinions for using a particular program.
I wrote this post to clear the air regarding the “battle” between Mailchimp vs Mailerlite. But before I get into it, let me give you a little background info on why you need email marketing in your business.
As a blog or business owner, I bet you understand how important email marketing is and will be to your business growth. Besides keeping your subscribers or community of readers informed and up to date with your latest updates, it is one the most effective ways to escalate your business conversion rates through the roof.
If you take advantage of the growing numbers of email account holders, it is undisputed that your business success will be unbelievable within a short time.
Why You Need To Use Email Marketing.
According to research by the Radicati Group, done in January 2017, it is anticipated that the number of email account holders by the end of the year will surge to 3.7 billion users.
This will be a rapid escalation from the 1.9 billion users in 2009. You know what that means? That about 54% of the entire population on earth is currently using email.
Here is the catch, while your site is based on the hope that visitors will return, sending them an email newsletter gives you the chance to pro-actively push marketing prospects that are of great value to them.
This is a better way to establish long-term business relations and sending your visitors to your blog on a regular basis.
If you haven’t started a blog yet and would like to venture into it, you can read this step by step guide on how to start a profitable blog in less than 10 minutes.
What To Choose – MailChimp vs Mailerlite
Most of the tools promise to deliver unfathomable results (which they fail to deliver in most cases). For those programs that meet their promises, they are way too expensive.
For starters or small businesses and blogs, it will be quite difficult to pay hundreds of dollars every month when the returns are not quite good. But that won’t be a problem anymore, thanks to the amazing MailerLite.
I started using email marketing the first month I set up my blog, it wasn’t all rosy or a walk in the park.
It took me a whole frickin’ month to get the first subscriber. The second month was a bit promising since I managed to get 14 people subscribe to my email list.
This motivated me to push email marketing even further by providing various opt-in options to harness as many subscribers as possible.
I have been using MailChimp all along before I heard of MailerLite. Well, MailChimp was the only affordable and easy to use email marketing tool I knew by then.
The services were good, except for the few but unpleasant and intolerable limitations that I got by using MailChimp.
Using the free MailChimp plan was all smooth until I couldn’t take it anymore with the lack of Autoresponders and AB Testing. Above that, I could not get proper tracking for my email campaigns; these were the major deal-breakers I encountered for using MailChimp.
The major thing that got me looking for an alternative was the desire to have Autoresponders.
Sending emails to every subscriber manually is not only time wasting but also ineffective, right? After 3 months of using MailChimp, my subscriber list had considerably grown.
However, I could not still cop up with the undesirable limitation since they are now getting overboard. But hey, did I have another option? No! I could not go anywhere.
I was new to this whole thing, and MailChimp was the only marketing tool I knew.
It is like holding on to a relationship where you are not finding peace nor happiness but still clinging onto it, hoping things will take a better route over time.
It didn’t take me long before a friend of mine recommended MailerLite. Oh boy! I ditched MailChimp immediately… Yes, immediately.
It’s what you could have done if you were in my shoes, right?. We all love better deals. I tell you that night I barely slept.
I spent the whole night going through video tutorials trying to learn how to use this program.
Before we carry on. It will be a noble thing to do if you sign up an account with MailerLite. Claim your account using this special link that allows you to enjoy all the benefits of a free plan together with a $20 worth credit.
Why I ditched MailChimp for MailerLite
As much as MailerLite is a bit new to the market. It is undisputed that it is in a huge competitive verge since it offers a lot of incredible features that are a nice catch for anyone considering email marketing.
A little background about it. Launched in 2010, MailerLite primarily focuses small businesses and bloggers. The company aims at keeping the product as simple as possible. For this reason, it beats most of the counterparts in the market.
Here are some of the some of the reasons that made me ditch MailChimp for MailerLite without even blinking an eye.
You get Free Plan with Premium Features
MailerLite offers you numerous premium features even while you are on the free plan – they call it, the Forever Free Plan; something that MailChimp doesn’t offer.
The only thing that you will have to bear with is the MailerLite logo embedded in all your emails. But you can have this removed by upgrading to premium.
The ultimate catch is that you can use the free plan with up to 1000 subscribers and you have no limitation on the number of emails you can send on this plan. On the contrary, MailChimp limits you to only 12000 monthly emails.
Seamless and easy to use Drag & Drop features
With drag and drop, you can easily and quickly create email templates that are visually appealing.
MailerLite allows you to drag and drop some important objects such as images, charts or even text boxes to your desired position to customize your email to your appeal. Things can’t get better than this. 🙂
As I told you earlier, I ditched MailChimp for MailerLite since it could not provide automation unless I were a premium user. MailerLite allows that feature to free plan users, you can now create auto-responders swipe files or even email series for absolutely no cost.
Variety of Pre-Designed Templates
MailChimp has ready to use templates as well. However, MailerLite has a wide range of designs to choose from. If you are in a hurry and have no time to design customized emails, this can be a great time saver for you.
The templates are useful if you don’t have much time to create your customized emails. It save you a lot of time. However, this did not intrigue me much since I often use canva in designing all my graphics.
Enjoy incredible email tracking features
Email marketing will not make sense neither will you get the anticipated results if you can’t track how your campaigns are performing.
For this reason, MailerLite has advanced email tracking feature where you can easily analyze the results of your campaigns. The program allows you to access reports such as where your subscribers live among other crucial information.
With a detailed and well-structured data on the number of people who opened the emails as well as the conversion rates, you will be informed and be well prepared for better adjustments.
Extremely Affordable Prices as compared to Mailchimp
MailerLite is not only providing exemplary services. But another thing I love about it is for having the best prices in the market; hence if you would love to upgrade to premium, you don’t have to dig deeper into your pockets.
Other Interesting Features
Besides the features mentioned above, MailerLite also gives us amazing perks that will now make email marketing a smooth ride. These features are offered in the forever free plan by the way.
Did I tell you that Mailerlite has an amazing 24/7 support team?
I don’t know if that counts to you, but if you’re not a “techie” person like me, you might need support on some stuff from time to time. You can therefore easily contact them and get instant assistance.
Drawbacks of MailerLite
Well, they say “Everything good has a bad side as well.” MailerLite is no exception either.
One thing I have realized about it which is a kind of a hurdle to me is that the product is relatively new to the market and the integration with some popular WordPress plugins has not been established yet.
I find it a challenge to use it with some of my favorite plugins. But I know this won’t be a problem for long, I believe the developers are working on it and it will run smoothly.
So far, that is the stumbling block I have experienced with it; I don’t know if you guys already using it have experienced any challenges besides this. Let me know in the comments section below the page.
My MailerLite Recommendations
I highly recommend that you start using this program. The perks that come with having it are incredible. You cannot afford to miss the bells and whistles this program is offering.
Talk of the automation tools for RSS campaign, autoresponder as well as the simplicity and great design the platform has. MailerLite cuts all the clutter and fluff you might experience with other programs. Above that, you don’t have to be a techie to use MailerLite.
As your list of subscribers grows over time, you will need to upgrade to continue enjoying the services. The extra features offered in premiums packages will be vital to the smooth running of your business.
Needless to say, when you upgrade to the premium is when you feel the cool breeze even more. Sign up today with MailerLite and claim your Forever Free Plan.
